Every knob, explained.

NAMper turns an iPhone, iPad or Android phone into a complete guitar rig: Neural Amp Modeler profiles of real amps, a routable pedalboard, your own AU or AAP plugins, a four-track looper that keeps time for you, sampler pads, backing tracks with a lyrics teleprompter, and MIDI control over all of it.

START HEREFive minutes to your first sound

  1. Plug your guitar in — through an audio interface if you have one, or just play into the phone with headphones on.
  2. Open the Rig tab and tap the power button in the top-right corner. Nothing makes a sound until it is on.
  3. Play. Watch the IN meter beside the amp card — a hard strum should reach the top third. If it does not, raise Input trim in Settings.
  4. Tap a preset in the PRESETS rail: Clean, Crunch, Lead or Ambient.
  5. Tap any block in the chain to open it, and tap the footswitch strip along the foot of a block to switch it off and on.
If you hear nothing

On the built-in mic and speaker NAMper mutes itself on purpose, so your phone does not howl. See the feedback guard.

01 · Getting started
Audio interfaces, sample rate and buffer, the power button, the meters, the feedback guard, where your files live, and what is different on Android.
02 · Rig & signal chain
The blocks palette and every block, NAM profiles and TONE3000, HyperReal amps and their circuits, cab IRs, the seven EQ models, preset banks and scenes, multiple rigs and parallel branches.
03 · Plugins
Adding your own Audio Unit (iOS) or AAP (Android) effects to a chain — and running NAMper itself, with its own face and library, inside GarageBand, AUM, Logic or an AAP host.
04 · Looper
Four synced cells with their own play, solo and undo, AUTO arming and bar snapping, the loop editor, MIDI cells you can quantize and take back, a preset per loop, and loops as WAV files.
05 · Sampler pads
Sixteen pads, the four factory kits, importing and recording samples, the pad editor with its envelope, and the MIDI notes.
06 · Perform & lyrics
Backing tracks, the stage buttons, setlists and songs, the song's automation, the lyrics teleprompter, multitrack recording and DAWproject export.
07 · Mix & master
The console: a strip for every rig, branch, loop track, the sampler and the backing player, two send buses, the master section and the recorder.
08 · MIDI & control
MIDI learn, the built-in CC map, Bluetooth MIDI pairing, taught sound triggers, and the tuner.

10 · Mac
The same rig as a desk app and as a plug-in: the installer, the audio interface, menus and keys, and the AU, VST3 and CLAP formats.

ORIENTATIONThe five tabs

TabWhat lives there
RigThe amp, the signal chain and the presets. The only tab with the header bar, so the power button, Settings, the tuner, the key and the metronome all live here.
LoopThe four-track looper.
SampleThe sixteen sampler pads and their kits.
PerformBacking tracks, the setlist, the stage buttons that switch sounds and the lyrics teleprompter.
MixThe console: a channel strip for every rig, branch, loop track, the sampler and the backing player, the send buses, the master section and the recorder.

The MIDI map, the taught sound triggers and Bluetooth pairing are no longer a tab of their own: they live in Settings → Control.

On iPad — and on Android tablets and unfolded foldables — the same five tabs sit across the top and the rig lays out edge to edge, with the signal chain running left to right and the preset rail down the side.

The quick tour

NAMper runs a seven-step spotlight tour over the live interface the first time you open it. You can replay it whenever you like from Settings → PROMPTS → Replay the quick tour.

  • If audio is misbehaving, Settings → DIAGNOSTICS → Share engine log gives you a plain-text log of interface routing and peaks to attach to a report.
